What types of machines can Busroot monitor?
Any machine used in manufacturing - CNC mills, lathes, presses, conveyors, packaging lines, mixers, extruders, injection moulders, and more. If it's on your factory floor, we can connect to it.
Can Busroot work with machines from the 1970s or 80s?
Yes. Age isn't a barrier. As long as we can install sensors or tap into existing signals (like relay outputs or proximity switches), we can monitor the machine - regardless of when it was built.
What if my machine doesn't have any sensors?
No problem. We'll add the sensors needed - typically proximity sensors for cycle detection, current transformers for power monitoring, or encoders for speed. Installation is straightforward and non-invasive.
Do I need to replace my existing sensors?
Not usually. We work with what's already there - digital outputs, 4-20mA signals, relay contacts, encoder pulses, etc. If existing sensors meet the need, we use them.
What hardware does Busroot use?
We use industrial-grade micro PLCs like the Arduino Opta - WiFi-enabled controllers designed for factory environments. They're compact, reliable, and handle standard industrial I/O.
Is this proprietary hardware?
No. We use open, industrial-standard components. You're not locked into a single vendor or forced to buy expensive proprietary controllers.
Can I monitor machines from different manufacturers on the same platform?
Absolutely. Busroot doesn't care who made your equipment. A Mazak CNC, a 1980s lathe, and a modern Fanuc robot can all feed into the same dashboard.
What about machines with PLCs or existing automation?
We can integrate with existing PLCs where signals are accessible - reading status bits, counters, or registers. Or we can work independently using our own sensors if integration isn't feasible.
How long does installation take per machine?
Typically a few hours per machine - sensor installation (if needed), wiring to the micro PLC, network configuration, and testing. Most lines are live within 1-2 days.
Do I need special IT infrastructure?
Just a standard factory network with WiFi coverage. Our micro PLCs connect wirelessly and securely to the cloud - no need for on-premise servers or complex IT setups.
What if I add new machines later?
Simply install another micro PLC and configure it in Busroot. The platform scales with your operation - add machines as needed, whenever needed.
Can you monitor non-production equipment like compressors or HVAC?
Yes. The same approach works for any equipment - production machines, utilities, facility systems. If it has a signal we can read or a sensor we can add, we can monitor it.
